Ben Oppenheim

Dr. Ben Oppenheim is a political economist with expertise in governance, global health, development, and international security. He is a Senior Scientific Consultant to Metabiota’s Product Development Group, where he researches, develops, and builds analytical tools, including models to measure national preparedness for epidemic and pandemic outbreaks.

His current research focuses on state capacity for public health response, health and security dynamics in vulnerable populations, and the causes of political instability and violence. Oppenheim has worked extensively with multilateral organizations, and with a range of non-governmental and philanthropic groups. He received his PhD and MA from the University of California, Berkeley, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and his BA from Wesleyan University. He is a Research Affiliate at the Institute for the Future, and a Senior Fellow and Visiting Scholar at New York University’s Center on International Cooperation.
