Cameron Bowie

Dr. Cameron Bowie is an Associate Professor of Community Health at the College of Medicine, University of Malawai.  After an early medical career in paediatrics and general practice in the UK, Nepal and Australia, Dr. Bowie turned to public health when a consultant paediatrician in Papua New Guinea and asked to take on the role of Provincial Health Officer by the Minister of Health.  He returned to the UK for formal training in Public Health Medicine and held senior posts in public health and management in the NHS.  Dr. Bowie established a department of public health in Somerset of national repute, bridging the gap between service and academic work as evidenced by a number of major publications.  He maintained his interest in international health through short-term consultancies and overseas visits.
