Michael Santos, deputy director, supports strategy and operations for the Discovery & Translational Sciences and HIV teams in the Global Health Program.
Prior to joining the foundation in 2013, he was a management consultant with the Boston Consulting Group for five years, working on strategic problems in the corporate, public, and non-profit sectors. His global health projects as a consultant included vector control, HIV prevention with broadly neutralizing antibodies, combining contraception and HIV prevention, and global regulatory system strategy.
Michael’s first career was astronomy: he received a Ph.D. from Caltech in 2003 for work on how galaxies are born and subsequently held research fellowships at the University of Cambridge and the Space Telescope Science Institute.
